(10) IF THERE ARE NO GOOD PRO WHALING ARGUMENTS, THEN WHY WOULD THEY WHALE?

The 2 prominent and widely acknowledged arguments are as follows.

FIRST ARGUMENT IS.... Japan is petrified of western countries enforcing fishing quotas on their fishing industry to stop the pillage of the ocean’s fish stocks. Fishing, particularly of stocks such as Bluefin Tuna, is an incredibly lucrative industry for Japan, while the Japanese department of fisheries holds enormous power and political sway over the Japanese state government.

If Japan stops whaling at the will of countries like Australia, it then opens up a precedent under international law for the western world to ask Japan to stop overfishing!

Whaling is also a great diversion. While the west kicks up a fuss over the whales, Japan continues to rape and pillage the oceans whales. Some have called it a "smoke & mirrors show".

Their persistence to whale is an assertion of their sovereign control over their right to fish and plunder the world’s common resources.... in other words, a message to the world saying "Get off our backs, we will do what we like!”
